Artists explore food in “8/ate/08” at Hot Shops Art Center
Family dinners, fairy tales, word play and favorite foods appear in “8/ate/08,” organized by the Nebraska Women’s Caucus for Art and opening Aug. 8, 2008, in the Hot Shops Art Center’s Hallway Gallery, 1301 Nicholas St., Omaha. The show will run through August 26.
Each artist worked in an 8-inch square while considering the food theme. Media choices range from oil paintings to linoleum prints to ceramic mosaic to mixed media. About 50 artists are participating in the show.

"The Crazy Eights and the 88 Lesser Themes" is a group art exhibit opening Friday, August 8, 2008, 7pm til Midnight at the Hot Shops Art Center in Omaha. 40+ Artists!! The exhibit runs through the end of August.

"The Crazy Eights" is organized by local artists Mike Scheef, Joel Holm, Kim Kuhn, and Derek Courtney. The group previously curated the 77 Deadly Sins Show on 7/7/07, which was nominated for an Omaha Entertainment Award for Best Group Art Show. 6 Venues, 30+ bands, 1 night in Benson! The Omaha Entertainment and Arts Awards is hosting a Summer Showcase in downtown Benson on Friday, July 18th. Get the lineup here. The venues are: The Waiting Room, Mick’s Music and Bar, Barley Street Tavern, PS Collective, Burke’s and The Foundry. Wristbands can be purchased for $10 at The Foundry. See you there!
